“ I really really really like M sushi. I do prefer the Durham location, but this one in Fenton is much easier to get to, so we tend to come here more often. Same dark and chic vibe, but I prefer the aesthetic in Durham a little more, it feels more intimate, if that makes sense. M has consistently good sushi. I'm always happy with the omakase. To the point that, that's pretty much all we order. You can add on à La carte if you want, so we usually add uni, but you don't really need to, as it is plenty of food. My preference is to sit at the sushi bar, but they have table service too. You're in for a lot of food, during a dinner rush it can feel very leisurely, but it is just really well timed out. That said, I would not come here for a quick meal. It's more of an evening out experience. I wish Yelp allowed half stars bc it's more of a 4.5 for me than a 4, but it's still a great place for a date. ”

The Gyudon is flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the California roll has been consistently fresh and delicious. The overall experience has been great, and I'm happy to upgrade my review to 4 stars. “ Really high quality fish and rolls. It has a darker ambiance and the seating is a bit too close quarters for my taste. Even though the rolls were delicious, it was a bit pricey for what it was. I asked to substitute out crab for fish and got upcharged $4 which I felt was ridiculous ”

“ I've been here a few times and recommend getting the Grand Omakase or the Nigiri Omakase. Eating this dinner is like experiencing art. Everything is beautifully plated and the staff expertly introduce each course. The depth of flavor and attention to detail of each dish is amazing. I'm not the biggest fan of the third night course of the Nigiri Omakase course but everything else is great. I love eating here for an intimate dinner because it is low-key and requires you settle in for a bit. Definitely recommend for date night or dinner with your best friend. ”

“ I had a wonderful experience at M sushi - service, ambiance, and the food were all excellent. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered the nigiri omakase. Both the server and chef were attentive and the dishes came out at the right time. The fish were fresh and high quality, and I particularly enjoyed the vinegar rice. It really felt like a true omakase experience with the chef explaining each fish and checking in to see if it had the right amount of wasabi. In addition to the 12 pieces of nigiri, I was given an option for an additional piece of my choice which was a very nice note. The value was amazing as it was $85 for 16 courses. Highly recommend getting the nigiri omakase! Breakdown of omakase: 1st course: Crudo with ponzu and yuzu pear foam (I really loved this foam as it added a salty/tangy note) 2nd course: Chawanmushi with trout roe Nigiri courses: sea bream, flounder, shima aji, akami, chutoro, otoro with caviar, yellowtail, sea trough, amberjack, mackerel, scallop, anago Last courses: negitoro handroll, tamago, and miso soup ”

“ The best sushi experience I have had in the US. I didn't eat Nigiri, before I dined here. Went with 3 friends and we all got the omakase. Let's just say, that I actively look for nigiri now, but I will have to come back to M sushi to have the experience I want. They have set a new bar for me when it comes to good sushi/nigiri. After having the omakase, I tried the M special. Usually the more ingredients the more I like the roll. But after having the omakase, the m special roll felt like too much. This restaurant has set the bar for my dining experiences so far in 2024. I don't often revisit restaurants, but this will be a staple in our household. Do yourself a favor and eat here ”

“ New and better This place is a revamp of the msushi of Durham and it is excellent. The decour is glossy and new. The nigiri omakase experience is probs one of the best in the area. The chawamushi starter was excellent - savory with a pudding like texture. The first 8 pieces of nigiri was delicious - loved the yellow tail, fatty tuna, and trout. The last 4 were not my favorite - namely the scallop and the eel. Ended things off with a crispy handroll which was very tasty tho a tad oily. Also interesting that they gave us the miso soup at the end, I was too full to drink it haha ”

“ I cannot believe I have never written a review! I have been here a few times now - once just because, once for their Omakase and this past Valentine's Day! I will always be a fan of anything M does, as sushi is my favorite food of all time. Their staff is always friendly and inviting and the chefs do a great job explaining the dishes. I included images from both the Omakase and Valentine's Day (chirashi bowl & tuna tartar) meals. I have nothing more to say than: everything M sushi creates, I will eat. 1000000%! ”

“ M Sushi is a delightful place to get a taste of Japan. I complemented my server on a well-executed presentation of my dinner. I came on a Friday and the usual Friday night recommendations apply. Those without reservations need to come close to opening time. Otherwise, making reservations is the way to go. We knew what we wanted to order before our server arrived. It was a busy night and we knew we'd be waiting forever if we didn't order promptly. Big thanks for bringing our drinks out swiftly. My pork tonkatsu special was done true-to-style. It brought back fond memories of my Japan trip last year. My mother's udon special was equally well-presented. Shoutout to the chefs. We savored every bite. The sushi bar experience revolves around appreciating the art of making each roll or piece of nigiri. The emphasis on craft is reflected in the price. Their special entrees are no exception. I look forward to trying their maki next time. ”

“ I'm so glad M Sushi opened a location in Cary. I came here for lunch on a Wednesday and it wasn't super busy, thankfully. We didn't have a reservation but was seated promptly when we arrived. My wife and I got seats at the bar so we could watch the food being prepared. I ordered the Chirashi Combo while my wife got the Sushi Deluxe Combo. The Chirashi was delicious - the amount of fish was very generous, the quality was great, and the price was very much worth it. It also came with a miso soup. My wife's Sushi Deluxe Combo had 6 pieces of nigiri and a sushi roll, and also came with a miso soup. The food was great, the service was friendly, helpful, and prompt, and the space is nice, new, and clean. Parking at Fenton is convenient, but may be a bit of a walk depending on where you park. We will be back! ”
